What is sea buckthorn berry?

Sea buckthorn is a small fruit that is still little known in France, but which is revolutionizing the world of cosmetics. It is extracted from the berries by enzymation, a process that optimally preserves the properties of the active ingredients. This process is particularly respectful, unlike others which use heat or solvents which tend to reduce the effectiveness of the ingredients.

It should also be noted that all fruits and berries found in nature are composed of a hydrophilic (watery) and lipophilic (oily) part, although the proportions vary from one fruit to another. In the case of sea buckthorn berries, the hydrophilic part accounts for 95-98%. This combination of two phases optimizes the benefits of each active ingredient by creating synergies, thus creating the Totum.

The Totum represents all the active ingredients in the berry, and its therapeutic effect is greater than that of any one of them taken separately, as they act in interaction. To obtain La Maison de l'Argousier products, we begin by extracting the water and oil from the berries, then use them to reconstitute the berry's plant totum, which has the advantage of having a fatty acid composition very similar to that of our skin. This totum serves as the basis for all our products, considerably enhancing their efficacy.
